i can’t believe I carried this from London….london taxi to eurostar, eurostar to paris gare du nord, car to charles de gaulle airport, paris to dubai, dubai to bangkok, bankok to sydney customs agents, sydney to byron… i had to keep draping an airline blanket over my legs so nobody could see it was not under the chair in front of me.
this is a beautiful and unique turn-of-the-century French wedding display stand or globe de mariee. they were used to display the bride and groom’s wedding rings…and sometimes, crowns. the piece has silkĀ flowers, metal birds, and mirrors, sweeping up the back from the cushion. the wire legs are stapled to a wood platform, the piece does not have a glass dome.
