We also have a four wool and lurex small rugs in off white and chocolate brown hand woven in Tunisia. I am picturing them next to a bed or the bathroom. Also in 100% pure cotton and woven on “metiers a tisser” They are hand woven and can be used as a handtowel towel or a throw or what ever you like really…Luxurious and soft they have striped details…I especially love the added lurex touch. We also have a few wool and lurex small rugs. I am picturing them next to a bed or the bathroom.

We are one today….. and it also happens to be my fathers birthday. So happy birthdays all round! We would like to say thanks to everyone who have supported us over that last year. Customers who have become followers, the strangetrader team that keep us going forward and the press for all their interest in our collections.

ex-voto

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

These beautiful votive offerings are given to a saint or divinity…. in fulfillment of a vow. Ex-votos come in many different forms….. they can be written, painted, reproductions of miraculously healed body parts or a related item given by a person that has been cured. I started collecting them in Greece and have  now begun collecting them for the shop. I love imagining the stories that go behind the offering and if they worked.

Expanding….the office space

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

Out of the dinning room and into a shed very soon..It will mean we have our dining room back and we can clear all the crap off the table. We can invite people round and hang the new artworks. Luckily there’s no cows on the way to the office. The other day on the way to the shop I lost concentration for a moment and  managed to step in a rather large cow pad….Windex tissues have a new use ….they refreshed my feet and my Sigerson Morrison bronze sandals also came back to life.   Why is it they always manage to poo just near the gate.

Bought a new painting last week from Barebones in Bangalow by Robert Ryan, about a man and his love for a dog. It’s titled “safe”. It reminds me of my Robert and his love for Jack our border collie.

We’ve unpacked happiness

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

These are ‘happiness’ cushions from Italy. Ex-Prada, Dolce & Gabbana deisgners. Embroidered gentlemans suiting fabric with hand painted gold edges. We came accross these though a friend who lives in Florence and she the took us to a tiny shop that aiming to promote these deisgners at the next Salone Internazionale del Mobile (furniture fair) in Milan.
